Carsial Numbers Facade numbers made of clay.

 

At first we designed them to be used on our studios facade. Ou goal was to transform a number into an object. A number is a mathematical sign that evokes a certain quantity. A facade numbers function is to identify a building. The only function of this object is related with its form. Even though we were working in an object this was a eminently graphic project. We are not used to work in eminently graphic projects, it is not our specialty. That is why we focus on developing a process which generates the form of the sign and not on designing the sign itself. We capture the deformation effect on a printed number using a neutral type filming them through our studio door glass. From the outside things are usually not as they seem to be.
